Awoke this morning at 8 am to the sound that a pump makes as it's about to die. I could almost see it's hand clutching it's throat and gasping for breath and as I reached the bahroom window, saw Ian under the fig tree by the wall frantically pulling things out of the way to reach the poor thing then, mercifully, it was switched it off.
Perhaps it knew that there was a brand new pump waiting to take it's place purchased not much more than a week ago.
The previous working water pump had given up the ghost a month or so back on a Sunday morning which was very inconsiderate of it seeing as there isn't anywhere on a Sunday to buy a new one.
Ian discovered at least three replacement pumps down in the cellar but...not one could be salvaged. Eventually, after a great deal of time and effort he managed to remove the garden water pump where it had been languishing in retirement in the wood shed since the piping up of the' agricultural water' which had made our water tank redundant along with the pump which had become arthritic and had seized up and was very reluctant to go back to work. However, with a little oil in it's joints, it was pressed back into service and given the title of 'house water pump' but sadly, this morning saw it's demise.
Will it be tempting fate to purchase another pump just in case the villa water pump decide's it's had enough of life and dies one sunny Sunday morning soon?
Is it normal to replace water pumps as often as we seem to have to do?
