The month of August is traditionally a holiday month when the citizens of Granada leave their city and flock down here to the coast 'en masse'. This mass invasion, naturally causes temperatures to rise alarmingly as well, I dare say, as adding a degree or two to the ambient temperature. Traffic barely moves along the still single lane coast road between Torrenueva, Salobreña and the Granada turn off until Siesta time and it's better not to be in a hurry to get to anywhere.
Wednesday night saw the grand opening of the feria which seems a little more subdued this year, maybe a sign of the times, but is still open all night until first light. The music gets louder as the night rolls on until it is almost deafening. Noise pollution - what's that?
Then it's 'chocolate and churros' (sugarless doughnuts) and home to bed.
We have our own special family visitors here at the Cortijo for two weeks and life is good.
