Telltale Wallet.........

At this time of year, crop theft is a major headache for fruit farmers along the Costa Tropical – extra police patrols are mounted but that doesn’t stop literally tonnes of ripe fruit disappearing, only to reappear on roadside stalls.
We hasten to add that not all, nor even most of these roadside sellers are peddling stolen fruit ...  just some of them.

It is difficult to actually ‘nab’ a thief unless you catch him in in the act but, recently, another sure method of finding the culprit occurred in Motril.

The thief’s wallet dropped out of his trousers whilst he was climbing on of the trees and was later found by the farmer.

The thief did allegedly manage to take 6,000 kilos of chirimoyas with him, even though he left his wallet in their place, but the farmer was not happy with the exchange so he handed it over to the police who quickly identified its owner;  a 31-year-old gentleman with some previous experience of the judicial system.

Chirimoyas

Delicious fruit with a flavour reminiscent of  'Apples & Custard'.
